Time eras

Post by partydude999 on Fri Sep 20, 2013 8:29 pm

You should add eras. Like once you build everything in one era you unlock the next one and can build stuff from that era. like prehistoric, stone age, iron age medieval, colonial, and modern and as you get to each your tools can get more powerful and clothing changes

I definitely agree. We should implent a level system or some sort that allows you to learn new kind of stuff that will level up in era.

Great idea, I will definely ask our main programmer about this.

Not sure about this. I don't like the idea of being limited to make things, and have to make a lot of things first to level up.

Survival 303 also has this. I'd like to remember you that - for example - when you want to make a huge ship you first have to spam a lot of "lower-level" ships to update your shipbuilding.

If we'd work out a better game mechanic, I guess that would be nice.

I like the current game "eras"

How you can get stone items when you spawn, but it is harder without prehistoric items.

Well. I agree with jobro. I don't like the fact that you know how to make a large ship but you can't because of some random level system. How about this. Instead of a levelling skill system how about a skill system which you actually have to put effort into? For example, to drive a nail you need a hammer, then some wood and a nail obviously. Then depending on strength it will drive the nail in the wood?

That'll be better, I guess. We'd have to work that out!

Instead of relying on levels to do it, rely on the tools you make as a level system. You can't really make modern day objects with ancient tools.

XD True. So we could add that on to our effort system.

What I mean is you can't build a mansion without first learning how to build a hut. Or you can't build a galleon without learning how to build basic boats.

To me, there shouldn't be any level system. Kinda like minecraft, if you have the right tools to get the materials and put them together, you could make anything. You could make a mansion with prehistoric tools, but it would be a lot faster with Medival age tools. It is a system that limits you to certain things without actually saying "you can't do/build this".

Yeah, true. I would love that. But it would kind of be better to make some stuff impossible with good enough tools.
