Do we keep the name Stranded?

We will never make sequels - spinoffs are possible, but sequels not. Roblox works around updates, so creating a sequel is a bad idea. We make one good game, not two half games.

And, Stranded: episode one... that looks like it will get sequels. Which will not happen.

I was thinking myself about "Instinct". Post more suggestions here. (This is also the main reason this is called the Survival Project, and not the "Stranded Remake" project or something)

I dont quite understand your logic on sequels being a bad idea just because Roblox updates itself. What do you mean by "half game"? Why does it have to be a half game? I can cite two series of games that were good ideas and worked quite well if you want. Why can't we call it something like New Lands: Episode two, give it some coherent storyline intro like stranded, and that should work. Would be pretty cool too, imo, and better than a seperate game.

Half game as in: The first day we work on game 1, the second on game 2. We'd better work on one game.

The thing is that we are remaking this game, and not making a sequel. As I said, spinoffs are possible (that will be quite simple using the same API), but I don't think sequels are a good idea... I mean, we will use the same API, and if we don't, we have to start over (again).

Again, why does it have to be a half game.

And also again, explain why sequels are a bad idea.

Because why make a whole new working game when we can just add to the first one, eh?

Because if we make a sequel, we start with the same base. Which will lead to an almost identical game, but probably bigger.

I still really don't understand the logic of sequel -> Exactly identical game just half but also turning the prequel into another half -> Robloc updates itself! -> The engine must be the same! -> Sequel is bad.

Also, you are telling me that instead of doing 202, 303, 404 or Finale it hould just be 101, and that would somehow amount to more fun then other games.

You get me wrong I think.

If you take a game, let's take call of duty. You take that game, you get it, and you play it. The only updates you get are patches.

On roblox, games are updated a lot. No one cares, there are only a lot things added, that's what I mean that Roblox is about updates.

The thing about this "half" is the distribution of time and power. If we are going to make a sequel, we have another game which we can say is "deprecated" as it either has the current engine, but outdated features, or it has an old engine. Also, if we make a spinoff, we split our time and power in two.

And yes, I actually think that putting all power in making one game better is better than making a lot of sequels.

But, yes, all the games you named are fun. But, I would really have liked if Davidii would work more on his 404 - for example - instead of working on Finale.

Agreed on the Finale part.

What I'm talking about is basically have a new game, completely new, like this Instinct. Not a spinoff, you don't need to work on the Stranded at all.

All I'm suggesting is to put a paragraph in the intro or something that ties it to the Stranded game intro. Like detailing your life after the crash OR how you and your group of explorers diverged and went off and landed in another land.

I think the second would be more fitting.

You see, this is all I mean to making it a sequel. Just giving it a pargraph of information, and that would make everything seem cooler to people who have played Stranded, make people who haven't go play Stranded, and then those new people would see Instinct (I don't really like this name but I'm trying to think of another) cooler.

Aaaah... like that. Well, that may be a nice idea actually.

The thing is, people will then ask "what happened with the old game" which will eventually lead me putting it up somewhere. I don't know if that's an issue tough.

Are you aware this whole conversation wasn't about the name? Tbh, "Stranded" sucks. It isn't exciting at all. We need something that makes somebody who clicks an ad say, "Holy crap, I wanna play this." instead of, "Wth is this thing?". I say something like maybe "Pulse" (from the EMP) or Jobro's "Instinct". Any other ideas? I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels this way.

I like the idea of fusing them together with a story. But with the new features it would change how it would work altogether. How about we stick it to the old story and start over. Because slight changes of features is kinda unrealistic.

Well, Xulp, "Pulse" would be too story-dependent, and the story is currently very thin. If we could blow it up some more (that is, that it is a bigger part in the game, it's more important) then I guess we could do that.

Otherwise, it would be the same as calling "Zelda" "Horselife" as you ride on a horse sometime

I like the name Instinct, it is very powerful.

I like the Pulse idea, I could help remake the story.

If you did, that could lead to Stranded 2 (comes back but world full of zombies or something, i dont know)
