[Please Partake] Orbiting around Stranded

Explanation of this thread:


This is Stranded represented as an entity with mass. The smaller solid circle is the current experience an entity (that is capable of applying subjective thought to Stranded) is having, and it also has mass. The thin stroke surrounding Stranded is the orbit path. An orbit path is the location the entity will be through as time continues. Combining the previous sentence, this means the orbit path is the journey a player will experience throughout his playthrough.

The picture depicts a pretty stable orbit. In fact, there's zero eccentricity. Not bad.
However the picture fails to show you a lot. In fact, it fails to show the infinite actions of everything. As a consequence, the results are also infinite. FUUUUUCK
This may be best shown as a n-body problem, which is a pressing issue in physics. It's not possible to predict the outcome from the starting condition: you must calculate the results after each iteration of time. Using your thinking skills, that means the future is dependent on the past. This also means small changes in the previous iteration can have massive effects on the next.


Here, we have four bodies: The game, a game update, and two players.
While you could've probably guessed without the paths that the outermost player probably would've crashed, even this scenario is extremely simple.
This picture is a better representation.


All of these dots have mass. They all have gravity. They all affect one another.
As I said, it's an n-body problem. There are infinite possible states. However, some states are more likely to occur. This thread is dedicated to keeping as many states as possible from crashing or escaping, maintaining an orbit. It is also about the change of an orbit to change the experience. Ideas posted here will tend to be abstract concepts - which also tend to be the larger circles. Don't be afraid to change the smaller circles as they can have a massive impact on orbit too.

Neat. I look forward to this. Keep giving examples on things which makes it easier to understand things.

About what we discussed yesterday: I am research a little bit how other survival games like Rust and DayZ handle death. Apparently you can respawn in your house if you die. I don't really know how it would fix spawnkilling though, that aside.
