Diverse combat.
As there is already a "stamina" bar, why not have certain "skills" with combat? Combat skills are separated to categories, Ranged, Blunt and Sharp. A bow would be under ranged, a mace for example, is blunt, a sword is sharp. Having increased "levels" in those categories raises damage and maybe different "skill sets". While trying not to make this RPGish combat, those "skill sets" could be simple things, such as lunging with the sword (sharp). More accurate aim (chances to miss) with ranged. Blunt weapons would cause higher chance of breaking bones (to be added). As usual, weapons would have durability. Regardless if this is added, I just wanted to say this.
