Planning problem: Vacation
Yeah. Next sunday, I will be on a 3 weeks+ vacation. I will not be reachable by then. Bad side of this topic.
Good side of this topic: When I'm back, I will have a big swimming pool of time where we can give this project a head start. 4 weeks of development should get this project rolling, and I'm sure we can do it.
Now you say "we can't do anything". True. At least, on the CODING part of the game (because of the API). However, the world can already be made, and we can work out a LOT OF CONCEPTS and game mechanics already. These are the basic parts of the game: without concepts and worked-out mechanics we cannot start making anything yet.
So, my suggestion is that, when I am away, you guys could start making the world already. Also, a lot of mechanics can be worked out already. Post them all here, the mechanics which have to be in a working game and eventual expansions. The BASIC mechanics:
-Gathering (root of the whole game)
-Backpack
-Eating/Drinking
-Health system
-Crafting
-World
Next is:
-Building
-Resources
Then comes the "expansions" which are some "mini-games" themselves with rulesets which have feedback on the game:
-Fishing (feedback is: you can eat/cook fish)
-Fire
-Bugs (?)
-Walking animations, such as climbing (??) and swimming
-Mining
-Animals
These crude mechanics have to be worked out. Scarfacial has already made an extremely cool idea for the backpack. We have to work these things out.

I put it on the forum calendar, I could also be back 4 days before I planned it. Fact is: I'll be gone for a while, gathering and crafting my own stuff in real life. Sort of.
